The San Francisco peninsula is the unceded ancestral land of the Ramaytush Ohlone people, who have lived here for thousands of years. The Ohlone name for San Francisco was Ahwaste, meaning, "place at the bay." I honor the Ohlone community, their elders both past and present, as well as future generations. I recognize their enduring connection to this land, the waters, and the natural world, and I express my gratitude for their stewardship.
